Many religions give people a list of “do’s” and “don’ts” to follow. These religions teach that if people do enough good, they will earn God’s favor. But Christians do not have to worry about being good enough. Jesus has taken their place—and He is perfect!

When Jesus died and rose again, He made a way for His people to have true liberty. If you are a Christian, you are free . . .

. . . to eat the good things God made. God has provided people with everything they need—a huge variety of food included. “Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. And as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything.” (Genesis 9:3)

. . . to pray anytime. God’s ears are always open to His children. He wants to hear you praise Him, ask Him for help, and thank Him. “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

. . . to serve others. Christians are totally free. But at the same time, they are servants of everybody. God designed you to serve others. Serving others shows our gratitude for what Jesus did for us, and it shows us more of what Jesus is like. He served His friends to the very end of His life. “Do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.” (Galatians 5:13)

. . . from sin. Before a person knows God, he or she can’t say “no” to sin—and probably doesn’t want to! But Christians have the Holy Spirit living inside them. The Holy Spirit changes their desires. Now they want to enjoy God, not run from Him. He gives them power to do good instead of sin. “Sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.” (Romans 6:14)
