“And the lifetime achievement award goes to…Scooby-Doo!”

At the World Dog Awards, dogs walked in on fake grass. They left with golden fire hydrant statues. And you can bet their tails were wagging.

We aren’t talking about your typical award show. This one was packed with dog treats. There were patches of grass where dogs could do their business. Instead of applause, you could hear dogs barking.

Other shows like Dog Awards are popping up, too. An event called the Pawscars is named after the film award show, the Oscars. It praises animals that show up in movies. Even a tarantula won a “Pawscar” one year! The Golden Collar Awards do something similar. In 2012, they rewarded a Jack Russell terrier named Uggie. He was in the movie “The Artist."

Fans voted online for the World Dog Awards winners. They chose the most inspiring videotaped reunion between a returning military member and a dog. They even chose a Most Dog-Like Cat. That’s one way to celebrate God’s gift of furry friends!
